Soldeu ski resort
Soldeu is a pleasant, lively Pyrenean village with a friendly and informal Spanish atmosphere. The picturesque, tree-lined skiing will suit both the beginner and the ambitious intermediate, with a wide variety of long, open slopes. With access over into Pas de la Casa and a total of 192km of pistes, the ski area, known as Grandvalira, provides plenty of skiing for all abilities. Soldeu ski school is the largest English speaking ski school in Europe and has, for the last three years, been voted one of the top ski schools for beginners by the British Tour Operators Ski Magazine. Being, so far south the resort enjoys more than its fair share of sunshine but, when the sun finally sinks behind the mountains, the resort's various bars and restaurants kick into life, providing the tireless skier with a wide choice of après-ski to suit every taste.
Pas de la Casa ski resort
Situated at a height of 2095m, Pas de la Casa is the highest, sunniest and most snowsure of all the Pyrenean resorts. The ski area now includes not only Pas de la Casa and Grau Roig with its picturesque, tree lined runs but Soldeu and El Tarter. Known as the 'Grandvalira' it constitutes a skiing terrain of nearly 200km of runs. Pas de la Casa offers skiers and boarders all the convenience of a purpose-built, Alpine resort together with Andorran prices. It offers lively nightlife combined with the widest variety of skiing in Andorra and all of the Neilson accommodation is within easy walking distance of the lift stations. French and Spanish influences combine here to create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, with both languages being spoken. Shopping is Andorra's main industry and there are tremendous bargains to be found in Pas de la Casa's many duty-free shops.
Arinsal ski resort
Arinsal, located right in the heart of the Pyrenees, is a great resort, especially for beginners. Famous for its long sunny days, great hospitality and unbeatable value for money. A regular ski bus, free with your lift pass, operates within Arinsal resort, as well as to Arinsal chairlift which takes you to the main ski station at 1950m.
The 'downtown' area of Arinsal now connects into the main ski area by way of a Gondola. At 1950m you will find the ski school, ski hire shop and a variety of restaurants. Lockers, in which you can store your skis and boots overnight, are also available for hire. The lift pass also covers the neighbouring ski area of Pal, which is now linked by a new 50-person cable car.
Shopping in Andorra is a very attractive prospect and a local bus will take you the 9km to the duty-free haven of Andorra La Vella, a veritable shoppers' paradise.
